Inside every child lives a legend.™

This is not a slogan. It is a fact. It is also our mission.

Drone Legends began in a classroom, not a boardroom. In Camden, New Jersey, a fifth-grade science class welcomed our founder, Scott Buell. He was there to talk about drones. What he saw changed the course of his life. Children who normally sat in silence moved to the front of the room. They watched. They asked questions. They wanted to learn. That day, something clicked. Education could look different. It could feel alive. It could be fun, smart, and unforgettable.

The Spark That Started It All

Scott had spent years in corporate marketing. He knew how to sell. He knew how to lead. But he felt empty. He noticed something unusual. When he flew his drone in the neighborhood, kids would stop what they were doing. They watched with eyes wide open. That small machine had their full attention. That got him thinking.

Scott was not a straight-A student. He had struggled. He was expelled from public school in the seventh grade. Hyde School in Maine gave him another shot. That school focused on character. On grit. On growth. It shaped him. It taught him that people need more than lectures. They need something to believe in. Something to hold onto. So, he decided to try something bold. He left his job. He set out to start drone clubs. He thought he could use technology to help kids build confidence. But he ran into a wall.

No One Had Built What He Needed

There was no plug-and-play drone curriculum. No classroom-tested guide. No structured way to run a club or course. The market was flooded with hardware. Drones, parts, kits, goggles. But none of it came with a plan. What was he supposed to do with kids for ten weeks? Fly in circles? That was not going to work. That was not going to change lives.

Scott did not give up. He reached out to educators. He listened. Then he started building.

Designed With Teachers, Not Just For Them

Scott teamed up with the most creative teachers he could find. They were builders. Storytellers. Engineers. Together, they created the first Drone Legends program. It was called STEM Fundamentals. It had depth. It had color. It had purpose. This was not a drone demo dressed up as education. This was a full experience. Every mission connected to a real-world skill. Every lesson met academic standards. Every moment felt like an adventure.

Three principles guided every decision:

  1. It must look and feel amazing. Kids do not engage with dull slides. They crave visuals. Stories. Heroes. So we gave them Gimbal, our AI-powered drone character. We created cinematic missions. We brought science to life.

  2. It must connect to real careers. Why fly in loops when drones are saving lives, tracking wildlife, and managing crops? Our missions reflect actual use cases. These are not games. They are entry points to careers.

  3. It must be rooted in standards. Our curriculum aligns with NGSS, ISTE, CSTA, Common Core, CTE, and state-specific requirements like TEKS and PA STEELS. Schools do not have to guess. The alignment is clear. If a district has a unique standard, we customize the fit. We do not charge extra for that. We do it because it matters.

We Think of the Teacher First

Teachers with drones professional Development.jpg

We did not stop at curriculum. We looked at the big picture. Teachers are already stretched. They do not have time to invent a program from scratch. That is why every Drone Legends offering is a Turnkey Curriculum System™. Everything is ready. Everything is organized. Everything has been tested in classrooms.

Teachers do not need a tech background. They do not need drone experience. They need a clear path. We give it to them. Lesson plans. Presentation slides. Student journals. Setup guides. Grant writing templates. It's all there.

We also include unlimited live professional development. Our Zoom sessions are personal. Direct. Focused. If a teacher has a question, we answer it. If a teacher hits a wall, we walk them through it. We stay with them as long as it takes. Their success is our mission.

Community Comes Standard

Educators who join Drone Legends do not do it alone. They enter a growing network. They get help. They get advice. They get real feedback from people in the field. Our team listens and responds. We do not disappear after the purchase. We stay in the room.

We support with launch materials. Pitch decks. Leadership slides. Parent letters. If it makes rollout easier, we build it. This is not just service. This is partnership.

A Pathway to Careers

As Drone Legends grew, we saw a need. High school students needed more than drone play. They needed a career path. The FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is the first step for many drone professionals. But the prep courses out there were not built for classrooms. They were asynchronous. They were dry. They lacked connection.

So we fixed it. We created the FAA Part 107 Classroom Curriculum. It is structured. It is rigorous. It fits the Drone Legends model. Students can prepare in a group setting, led by a teacher who knows how to teach. This is not another self-study module. This is a CTE-aligned curriculum that brings real credentials into real classrooms.

We built it for one reason. Teachers needed it. Now they have it.

Programs That Grow With Students

Our lineup has expanded. We now serve every level.

  • Little Legends™ (Grades K–3): Storytelling meets STEM. Imagination ignites learning as young explorers build, play, code, and grow—no screens or drones required. The perfect launchpad for every future legend.

  • STEM Fundamentals + Expeditions (Grades 4–8): Full-throttle STEM missions that fuse coding, engineering, and drone flight with real-world problem-solving. Deeper thinking. Bolder learning. Maximum engagement.

  • Egyptian Expedition (Grades 5–9): A no-drone, browser-based coding adventure set in ancient Egypt. Students decode hieroglyphs, solve challenges, and learn programming through interactive, story-rich simulations.

  • FPV Initiator™ (Grades 8–12): Hands-on flight training with real FPV drones. From the basics to advanced piloting, this is drone racing meets CTE—precision, confidence, and career-ready skills in action.

  • USDRA™ – Drone Racing League (Grades 8–12): Join the league. Build your team. Fly your track. Competitive drone racing that turns classrooms into arenas and students into pilots—where esports energy meets real-world engineering.

  • FAA Part 107 Classroom Curriculum (Grades 9–12): A turnkey program built for schools to help students pass the FAA Part 107 certification. Real instruction. Real credentials. Real pathways into the drone economy.

  • Rise of the Legends™ (Grades 6–8): A cinematic, STEM-powered novel meets classroom curriculum. Students grow as heroes and thinkers through epic storytelling, teamwork challenges, and character development.

Every one of these programs is a Turnkey Curriculum System. That means teachers do not just get content. They get a proven system that works.

A Vision That Looks Forward

Teacher SF 1.jpg

The world is moving fast. Automation. AI. Environmental shifts. The students in our classrooms will lead the response. They will be the pilots. The analysts. The innovators.

We are not preparing them for today. We are preparing them for tomorrow.

That means we build for depth. We build for possibility. We build for the teacher who says, “I want to make a difference, but I need help.”

We are that help.

We Are Drone Legends

We are not just a company. We are a community. A movement. A mission.

We serve the teacher who stays late to prep. The student who never thought they could love science. The administrator who needs something to rally behind.

Inside every child lives a legend. We are here to prove it. We are here to support the educators who believe it.

We are here to build the future, one mission at a time.
